Photography history
Photography has become my greatest passion, bringing me an unparalleled sense of exhilaration and joy. From an early age, I was captivated by visual storytelling, spending countless hours poring over picture books, coffee table collections, and runway fashion videos. Growing up in the beauty industry with parents who were successful hairdressers, I had a front-row seat to creativity. With no babysitter, I often found myself immersed in beauty salons, soaking in the artistry of Vidal Sassoon-inspired hairstyles and the latest trends. I was lucky to witness that world firsthand.
My early exposure to the industry eventually led to professional opportunities. I trained with and worked for the John Casablanca/Elite Modeling Agency, which sharpened my eye for detail and nurtured my creative instincts. However, when it came time to choose a career path, I hesitated to pursue photography full-time, believing it wouldn’t provide financial stability. Instead, I majored in accounting, though my heart was elsewhere.
It wasn’t until my forties that I rediscovered my calling and began transforming my photography hobby into a source of income. Over the past decade, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering the craft, attending workshops led by my mentor, Greg Gorman, as well as studying with some of the most innovative photographers of our time, including Katrin Eismann, Stephen Wilkes and Seth Resnick.
Today, I focus on fine art portraiture and am constantly setting new goals for myself. In 2025, I’ll embark on a transformative journey to Iceland for an all-women retreat, creating a series of self-portraits I’ve been planning throughout the year. I also have cross-country photography sessions lined up and am developing a new series called Be Igor. My creative journey continues to evolve, and I’m excited for what’s to come—stay tuned!
